   It may sound funny, but I bought one of these while traveling through the Midwest. When I got home, my little bichon frise adopted it as her own and we nicknamed it ‘the baby’. Well, the ‘baby’ got a little worn out & took a big hit when our bigger dog buried it in the backyard. I searched high & low for another ‘baby’ and couldn’t believe my luck when I found this guy on Amazon.com. It’s the exact same !!! When it arrived, I gave it to Chloe (our dog) and she was so excited to have her ‘baby’ back. It now stays on the bed and that’s where you can find Chloe each afternoon … napping with her ‘baby’.

   This thing is cute but the picture is misleading. The racoon is very floppy and the bottom where your hand goes in is completely open, so the whole thing is like a bag. It definitely can’t sit up like in the picture because it has no stuffing in its torso to give it structure. We have the orange striped kitten puppet from Folkmanis too and it has stuffing in it’s tummy so it can sit up and the opening for your hand is much smaller and tighter. This racoon is a lot different and is very floppy.

   So cute and soft.Insert your hand from the rear below the tail.Control the head and front legs with your hand. The mouth does not open.I’ve had other Folkmanis Puppets. High quality.

   When our beagle was a puppy, he chose this hand puppet over half a dozen other toys as his favorite. He plays with ‘Rocky’ all the time and when we are gone for the day, he has ‘Rocky’ in his mouth when we return home, tail wagging like crazy. He chews the puppet so much we have to replace it once a year. He is now on his third ‘Rocky’ Christmas present. Scout loves when we do the hand puppet imitation of a raccoon in play time. I hope these hand puppets remain available as I’m sure we’ll be buying more each year.

   I was initially worried that this puppet would be too small to show well on stage, but once we had it in the hands of our performer and on the set, it was perfect. It was easy to handle and the actor “inside” was able to manipulate it to create a believable character for Cinderella to interact with.
