Santa brought this for my 7 year old (fan of the Goosebumps series) and he has been very happy with it more as just a collectible toy than as a ventriloquists tool. It is a bit difficult to use as there is no way to support the dummy and there is only a string that opens his mouth. (I was used to the kind with an opening in the back with a trigger that controlled the mouth). But the quality is good despite the expensive price tag. I was happy that I found it!

My 7 yr old son earned money to buy Slappy (big Goosebumps fan) and he loves the doll. I think the doll was a reasonable value for $47 as it does what you need it to do = looks like Slappy, full cloth suit and the mouth mechanism works fine and appears to be hearty. The biggest con is the construction quality of the suit…after 1.5 months we’ve lost a button and the sewing on the seams is a bit shoddy. Also, the design could be better as the pants merely fasten w/a small velcro strip and the shoes are attached w/rubber bands — both tend to come off.

My daughter is a fan of Goosebumps especially the books and videos that feature Slappy. So, she was very excited to find out she could have her own Slappy and she really enjoys it. It came nicely packaged and the only complaints I have are the shoes which come untied very easily and the pants keep falling down as there is only a thin piece of Velcro holding them up. Other than that she loves Slappy and is already talking about another ventriloquist doll she can get for her next birthday.

My 6 year old is obsessed with goosebumps, slappy in particular. So we bought this toy as a birthday gift. I read the reviews prior to purchasing so I knew what to expect. The shipping was fast but the doll is, in fact, cheaply made. Within hours of play, his head/hair paint was scratched up and a button came loose, shoes constantly fell off and came untied, just as on reviews. But I had already planned to do a little work on the doll to make it more durable. I used a hot glue gun to secure his shoes to feet and keep laces tied. I threw a coat of black paint on his head, and topped with a seal to prevent scraping better. And I cut all buttons off and sewed them on properly and securely. As well as sewing his white vest, which was loose and coming untucked all the time, to his body between his legs. I also placed Velcro patches between his clothing layers where needed, and plan to sew the seam of his pants in place of the existing Velcro, to keep them up better. While I think the doll should have been a bit more durable for the price, it didn’t take long to make a couple modifications to it to make it last longer, rather than spending a couple hundred for other ones for a child toy. Haven’t figured out what I will do if the hands fall off though, as I read that in one review…

The string is a lil hard to pull for my daughter to make the mouth move… better back in the day when your hand can go in and pull string for mouth…the mouth even opened wider.

My Grandson was thrilled to get Slappy. He wished he could talk, but I couldn’t afford the talking one.

5 stars for Slappy! Extremely happy with purchase. He appears well made. Plan to use Slappy for my upcoming Halloween Haunt this year. Happy haunting!

10 out of 10. Scared my 31 year old sister to the point she cried. Worth more than I paid for.
