First of all the theater is constructed of real wood and has nice extras to enhance the quality. Things like velvety curtains with hook and loop tie backs, a clock with movable hands so you can set the time of the next show, and finally a chalkboard panel to use as a marquee. (Clock is not a working clock but has movable hands.)The only minor quibbles I have with the theater concern the banner at the top not securing as well as it should which means it moves and one of the pieces of hardware has come out a couple of times which causes the banner to hang down. It has only occurred with an adult accidentally hitting it though. It would still be nice if there was a bit of reinforcement for it but it is just there for looks. The other thing is that even for a small child the theater is a bit cramped and with the design of the Melissa & Doug Puppets (one hand to control the mouth and the other is used to hold the stick to move one of the puppets arms) it requires more than one person to put on a show if you want to use more than one puppet. The theater is not expandable and there is not enough room for more than one person. This means that my daughter is hidden inside the theater controlling her puppet and I am laying on the floor on one side of the theater in plain sight controlling a second puppet. I don’t know that we could squeeze in a third person to control a third puppet. For use by one or two children this is a very high quality puppet theater though and I do recommend it.

I find Melissa & Doug products are generally above average quality and this is no exception. I think this will be a great for our two grandkids as they both love stories & to playact and pretend. I think the age range shown is about right unless the kid is very tall. My only main concern regarding use would be that it is a bit narrow for two kids and not workable for 3. It seems quite sturdy but it would definitely work best on a smooth, solid floor instead of carpet. I would also suggest having kids use it while sitting on a small stool as they are less likely to lean on it in a way that might cause problems. Instructions are better than average; which is not a great endorsement given how poor many instructions are. At least it is obvious that the person who wrote it is fluent in English and a bit clever. However only two of the wooden parts were labeled in any way and it takes a bit to figure out which way is front, back, left or right. Although instructions refer to a “right panel” and left they do not indicate from which perspective they are referring. “Stage left”? A few arrow stickers on parts would be a big help. Also, keep in mind it helps to have a 2nd person when assembling for a couple of the steps. But this is not rocket science and almost anyone should be able to do this.

Just wow. I got this on sale for about $50 and it was worth every penny. My 3.5 year old was just having too much screen time. Educational programs or not it doesn’t matter too much screen time just cannot be a good thing.I kid you not this is the ONLY thing this ENTIRE pandemic that has kept him engaged and having fun. I love that I assembled it alone in 20 minutes. Most of it was with the hex key/Allen wrench provided with the package BUT you do need a flathead and a Philips head screwdriver just for a quick second but it is needed. The directions were absolutely perfect I cannot think of anything that could have been added or alerted to make it any simpler . Im not handy I usually get frustrated with put together toys. This was quick and painless while my kids were distracting me.This is a STRONG and sturdy piece. Treated with respect it can easily last a very long time.UPDATE ON 4/21/22 AFTER OWNING AND USING HEAVILY EVERY DAY ..Best purchase! Worth it! Will be buying in the future as gifts for others. I love love this puppet theater. However, we do not only use it for puppets. We also pretend play that it is a food truck window. We place it beside the toy kitchen and my son pretend serves me food ready to eat. We also use it with big sheets and pretend it’s the entrance to our fort. There are so many ways to use this solid well made piece. Absolutely do not regret this purchase. My now almost 5 year old and 2 year old play with it literally every day and shockingly no signs of wear.

I bought this for my nieces years ago when they were seven and five, and theyβre still entertaining everyone til this day! Itβs definitely gotten a lot of use and it is sturdy as ever! Great purchase and it keeps their imagination going! Some of their βOnce upon a timeβ stories were a hoot!

I love this! It is really sturdy and colorful! I gave this 4 stars only cuz I wish it could be folded up to put aside when not in use

It was much smaller / shorter. 2 adults would be seen behind. Even two kids. I was expecting it to be wider and taller. Unable to use for our VBS program.

This theater was pretty easy to put together! It is very sturdy for the most part but I think if the kids lean too much it may snap the legs. Iβve warned them about it so we will see! I foresee many puppet shows to come!
